About time I added some new icons, huh? xD

November 1st, 2007

Added some more AIM icons, again all Neopets-related. ^-^ I was going to make some LJ/MSN icons too but got distracted. ¬_¬

I've added a couple of buttons and more avatars, as well as a wallpaper section with my first two wallpapers. ^^;

I also added two new layouts. One is a blog this time, which I normally don't like because I find them restrictive, but I think it looks good. ^^; The art, anyway.

Name: Magica
Layout: Positioned divs

Description: I don't normally like blogs but the image suited a blog better and I think it turned out great. :D The art is from Wei Liu's Suo Lin Nan artbook and I think it's really pretty. Less practical than my usual style, though. :P

Name: Perfect Moment
Layout: Tables and CSS
Date: October, 2007

Description: A more obvious title for this layout would be something star related but looking at the banner I made with such beautiful glowy stars and the expression on her face and they way she's sort of gazing dreamily into the 'camera lens' just made me feel like she was caught in this utterly perfect moment.

I spent a few of the early hours working on a brand new layout for the site. I realised I'd had the pink, or a version of it, up for at least a year and a half, closer to two, and that frankly I was very, very bored with pink. It was plain and just didn't seem like me anymore. Plus, I've been drooling over a Dezhen piece (featured in the banner) that's been inspiring all kinds of ideas lately. I love the rich, dark colours and I'm rather proud of the way I put everything together. *beams proudly while feeding ego huge doses of chocolate*

Also added a few 50x50 icons and reorganised the sidebar navigation so everything should be easier to find. I suppose I should rewrite the index/entry page to make it match the new look. xD

I've updated the graphics page to PHP. However, I've ditched the old avatars and banners I had up there and started fresh. Currently there are sections for 100x100 icons, 150x300 avatars and 88x31 button bases but I plan to have more sizes eventually. However, since the 150x300 avatars are so big I may do away with that section - I doubt it's a popular size since most forums only allow up to 150x150 icons. Oh well. xD I might make layouts to match them and stick them in there as part of the goodies section...

I've updated the Neopets Application Guide to PHP to join the rest of my site, and transferred the how-to section to its own page, Customising Neopets. I've also asked Council to update the link to the guide on TNO, added a couple of new linking buttons and tidied the guide up a bit. The HTML page has a redirection link on it so people don't think it was taken down. Now I'm off to work on the rest of the leftover pages. xD

Also added a new free layout design to my Premades page. ^^

EF is down for emergency server maintenance. This means we had no warning and there's been no real explanation as to why it's down. I've submitted a support ticket because by all accounts, the server should have been back up hours ago, so now it's just a matter of waiting to see what's going on.

I've created a new EF updates blog where myself and the Aides will be able to post updates as they come in. The trick now is to spread the word so people know about it. If you read this, please pass the link on to any EF member you see and please all bookmark the blog for future reference! ^^

I've finally uploaded all the php work I've done to date, which is nearly half the site. ^^; There's still a lot that's in html format, such as the dolls and graphics pages, and some links don't go anywhere but it's a good start. :D I'm pretty pleased with myself. For tutorials, I think I might try an automatic redirecting script from the html page to the php page rather than asking so many people to update links and bookmarks. I know the Application Guide for Neopets is particularly popular so that one, I think, is a must if I can figure out redirecting. xD

I'm feeling pretty out of it today but for some strange reason, that's usually the best time for me to get stuff done that I wouldn't usually, such as cleaning up my website. xD Having found a good tutorial for PHP includes, I decided to go through my website and recode everything to make things easier to update. On the previous layout, even though I was using javascript for the navigation so I'd only have one file (actually about half a dozen in the end >>;) to update when I added pages, I still had a html-based template. CSS = love and I'll marry it someday, but it doesn't alter the fact that if I needed to edit the HTML, I had to edit every single page. So yeah, PHP = love also. I have a little love affair going here. xD I also decided that while I liked the pink layout and the flowers on the background, I didn't like the banner anymore, so the layout's had a bit of an overhaul. Nothing fancy, just a new banner and a shuffle into the centre of the page. I also tossed out the div backgrounds for the navigation and main content so text should be easier to read. :) Now all I have to do is go through about 50 pages and update everything. T_T

I lost net access for nearly a month so I had loads of time on my hands and wound up making six layouts. I've also added a new page to show off my dolls - no adoptables yet but there may be some in the future. ^^

I know, I know, I'm meant to be working on the other pages first, right? =P Meh, I like pixelling and layouts more than writing these days. *shifty eyes* Anyway... I'll work on them eventually. Right? xD

I fixed and updated Niet's petpage finally and plan to submit it for TNO's site spotlight. All the fanart of him - to this point - is up there now. ^_^ I need to fix Puff's page though, it still doesn't work in Firefox, but I think I've figured out why - it's the padding, for the most part, but also you can't let a div overlap itself like you can with Internet Explorer if there's more text than you've allowed space for - you have to manually fix the height, or the background doesn't repeat properly... anyway, it's a bit complicated, and I don't get it, but there you go. I guess that's what comes from teaching yourself how to code. >D Anyway, hopefully that means that as soon as I can find the time, I can fix it, but I'm not sure what the problem is with Vashi's.

I copied Coding School lessons one to three to the website and I'm working on lesson 4 tomorrow, ready to upload over the weekend. I've decided to break it down even more because the lessons were kind of big and confusing.

I also added a couple of new adoptables to my toy box (aren't they so cute? *pokes them*), edited some of the links in my navbar and updated some parts of the site, but I still need have a bunch of pages missing. =P

I uploaded the site today (finally XD) and did a major overhaul of my Application Guide. It's shorter, neater, and has pretty screenies, yay!

I also added my pixels page, that looks quite pretty now. And started my Book of Inspiration - it only has four quotes on it for now (from the huge image at the top of your screen) but it's a start. ^_^ I swear, I'll get my notebook out soon and copy some of my favourite quotes and poems! In the meantime, check this out.

Well I spent over four hours searching for a particular site that I still haven't found. You see, while I was searching for doll bases I stumbled across a pixel artist who offers adoptable bead curtains like the one I'm using as a clickable divider. I've never seen anything like it before, so I wanted to study it before attempting to make my own (with full intentions of crediting the original artist, obviously, since this is not my own idea), but I still haven't managed to find the artist. Therefore, please, if you know who I'm talking about, email me a link to his/her website, thank you.

I am extremely proud of the bead curtain I drew, however. It's completely my own work! ^o^ How neat is that? XD

Well here it is, the redone version of the website I've been updating (hah) for the last year. I was just messing around with an art piece because I've wanted to do an Aethereality layout for ages but never quite figured out what to do with it. I can't get over how girly this layout is, or that I adore it. ^-^

Of course, it didn't just happen. It was a lot of hard work and about twelve hours. That's not including the false start I had about a week before this layout came together (I liked the graphics but I hadn't thought enough ahead to the coding, and wound up scrapping it to start from scratch - though I did use the same image, and the same kind of 'feel').

At least half the time was spent chasing down examples of certain pixels and so on because I had things in mind for the navigation buttons but didn't know how to draw them. All things considered, I haven't done too badly. Of course, I haven't checked it in Firefox yet, but so far it works perfectly in Internet Explorer. It's suitable for the lower 800x600 resolution (I always make sure of that, obviously) and with two versions for navigation it's going to be very difficult to get lost (hmmm). I know some stuff won't work in other browsers regardless (the dropshadow filter and custom scrolls, to start). It's also entirely likely that as soon as I upload this site to the 'net, I won't be able to actually see the big banner image (that seems to happen frequently... in fact, 99% of the layouts I upload no longer display properly for me as soon as the transfer is complete... but at least I have people to pester to make sure it's just me with the issues).

Anyway. Twelve hours. Ouch. That's enough for now. I won't even think about all the content I should be working on now that the layout's ready... And, I almost forgot. So far it's just the one page. I need to convert the style sheet into a separate file, save a template html page, and turn the navigation sections into a javascript file... Eep. *headdesk*
